Charlotte Mahjong Events and Classes
TWO-HOUR LESSON SERIES
Join us for Part I and Part II mahjong courses to begin your mahjong master journey. Our two-hour courses are designed to teach you the basics and practice the application so you can develop a strong foundational understanding of the game.
Part I : Mahj 101 course is a two-hour course for players interested in learning how to play Mahjong in Charlotte. Includes learning tiles, how to read the NMJL card and overview to playing mahjong
Part II: Mahj 102 course is the follow up two-hour course for beginner players to apply what they learned in Mahj 101, learn additional rules and strategy tips. Practice dealing, the Charleston and further understanding of effective line selection.
We recommend players register for both lessons in the series to have a firm understanding of Mahjong.

Part II : Mahj 102 course is a two-hour course for players who have taken Mahj 101 and want to fine tune what they learned in Mahj 101, learn additional rules, and begin building their strategy.

Join us for an evening of open play mahjong in Charlotte with friends and meeting new ones! Registration includes light bites & Mahjong giveaways! Our casual open play session is for players who have taken a Mahj 101 class or experienced players. An instructor is available for guidance for players still developing their Mahjong skills. Instructor can assist in the Charleston, strategy and NMJL questions.

2025 NMJL CARD WORKSHOP APRIL 22 | 7:30 PM
Excited about the 2025 NMJL card? Want to try your luck but have a few questions? Come to our small group new mahjong card workshop! Learn all the best strategies to tackle the new mahjong card and get ahead of the pack!
Session begins with an instructor overview of the new 2025 NMJL biggest changes, and most challenging lines. Learn easy pivots and see similar lines from previous years. After the overview enjoy an open play mahjong session with the new card and have an instructor handy to answer any questions you may have.
This is not a beginner lesson. Participants should know how to play mahjong and there will be no overview of the Charleston.
