August Mahj Open Play

JOIN US AT OUR AUGUST MAHJONG EVENT & FUNDRAISER

Join us for an evening of light bites, giveaways and open play Mahjong in South Charlotte with friends and meeting new ones! It is a great way to also help raise money and support our local community.

Solo players and smaller groups are always welcomed and encouraged! You'll be provided a table with similar speed players. It is a wonderful way to make new friends and practice playing Mahjong in Southpark

Our casual open play Mahjong session in Charlotte is for players who have taken a Mahj 101 class or experienced players. An instructor is available for guidance for new players still developing their Mahjong skills. Instructor can assist in the Charleston, strategy and NMJL questions.

All players will be included to win the giveaways.

A PORTION OF PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO SUPPORT CHARLOTTE BILINGUAL PRESCHOOL.

New and feel a bit confused?

If you have taken an introduction course before but still feel a little lost, or need to practice this is a great event to attend. There will be an instructor there to help you start the Charleston, give strategy suggestions, and answers any NMJL card questions you may have. There are many beginners so you'll be in good company.

Allow us to introduce you to other players who enjoy the same speed of play as you. Many of our guests started solo and are eager to meet new players too! We hope by the end of our socials, you're excited to come back, and in the future, be the one to welcome to a new players.

To reserve a mahjong table to ensure you and your friends are able to sit together, on check out select a quantity of 4. A transaction that includes 4 tickets will be reserved under the organizer's name.

What if I can't attend and have to cancel?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide refunds due to space limitations. However you are able to have a friend come in your place.

What if I purchased a table, but I can't get all the seats filled?

We are not able to provide refunds, but we can either see if a solo player would like to join your table, or we can teach you how to play with 3 players.

Can I bring my own tiles?

Of course! Regardless if you purchased a table, or are coming to meet friends just email us ahead of time at contact@charlottemahjong.com and we'll leave a spot for your tiles open.

What if I have taken Mahj 101 with another group?

Anyone who has taken a Mahj 101 course, with us, or another group or has experience can attend our events. Instructor guidance at monthly socials is limited to strategy questions and will not include how to play. The Mahj 101 requirement is to allow others seated at your table to play at the same speed and knowledge of how to play.
